"IV" means intravenous. The human body of is made up of blood vessels that carry blood, oxygen, and nutrients throughout the body. By accessing these vessels, we can administer fluids, vitamins, and medications directly into the circulation, resulting in much faster and more effective results than other administration routes. IV administration was traditionally performed only in the healthcare setting. Today, The Hydration Station is bringing this amazing health and wellness idea to everyone!
A small IV tube is placed into a vein, typically near the elbow, arm wrist or hand. The flexible tube (catheter) is left in the vein while the needle is removed and discarded. After the initial insertion, IV therapy should not be painful, and most people do not even notice the catheter. The IV site will be secured with tape and dressings to prevent any movement of the catheter. Fluids, medications, and vitamins are then administered from a bag of solution, through IV tubing and the catheter, directly into the bloodstream. The duration of the therapy will vary with the size of the IV catheter, the size of the vein, and the specific therapy, however most are completed in 20-30 minutes.
ABSOLUTELY! Not only do hospitals and other healthcare agencies utilize IV therapy, but it has been used by athletes and high profile celebrities to recover from hangovers, illness and for faster recovery from workouts for years. The Hydration Station is overseen by a medical doctor and our therapies have been carefully designed based on medical evidence, experience, and safety profile. Questions about IV therapy or our services are always welcomed and encouraged. We would be happy to hear from you!
